An outdoor kitchen in northern Michigan has to handle something most national brands never account for: sitting dormant and exposed from November through April. We spec marine-grade stainless steel appliances rated for that kind of freeze-thaw exposure, and we plumb every water and gas line with proper shut-off and drain-down points so winterizing the kitchen is a five-minute job, not a guessing game.
Layouts are built around how you actually cook and entertain — an L-shaped counter with a built-in grill and side burner is our most common request, but we've built full kitchens with pizza ovens, kegerators, and undercounter refrigeration. Stone or paver veneer is matched to your existing patio so the kitchen reads as part of the space, not an add-on.
For gas, we coordinate directly with licensed propane and natural gas providers on the line run and inspection — you're not left managing two separate contractors.

Can an outdoor kitchen actually survive a Michigan winter?
Yes, if it's built for it. We use marine-grade stainless appliances and plumb every line with a proper shut-off and drain-down point, so winterizing takes minutes. Kitchens spec'd for warmer climates and left exposed here typically fail within a couple of seasons — that's the mistake we're designing around.
Do I need a gas line, or can I use propane?
Either works well. Natural gas is more convenient long-term if a line is already near your patio; propane with a buried tank is common for properties further from the street. We'll walk you through the tradeoffs during design.
How much space do I need for an outdoor kitchen?
A functional L-shaped layout with a grill and side burner needs roughly 8 by 10 feet of patio space at minimum, plus clearance behind for prep and traffic. We'll confirm exact dimensions once we see your patio design.
